The artist received her training in the representational method, and works from life under natural north light in her studio. A careful observation of nature and interpreting her personal vision of the subject is part of the due process. She sought a return to understanding the methods used by generations of artists who had raised the technical and psychological significance of painting to an incredibly high level since the Renaissance up to the 19th century. She works with graphite, charcoal and oils using the sight size method, based on the foundational principles of art - found in the discipline of drawing, design, composition, proportion, form and value. She is inspired by the humanist spirit and seeks to imbue her work with truth, beauty and meaning.
